YOUNG LEARNERS AND YOUNG INNOVATORS:
Young people are the very core of the educational system and often have exciting and creative ideas to improve, enhance and change the existing systems. The Young Learners and Young Innovators Grant is part of the initiative to anchor innovation in education in India. This grant allows children and young adults to apply for grants by conceptualizing and creating breakthroughs in the field of education.
Young Learners (11 – 14 years)
Individual:This category will receive a Grant of Rs. 11,000/- if selected.
Group (a maximum of five students per group):
This category will receive a Grant of Rs.20,000/- if selected.
Twenty Grants wills be awarded in this category.
Young Innovators (15 - 17 years)
Individual : This category will receive a grant upto Rs. 1, 00,000/- if selected.
Group (a maximum of five students per group):
This category will receive a Grant upto Rs.1, 00,000/- if selected.
Twenty Grants wills be awarded in this category.
Applicants should apply for these grants through schools and junior colleges only. The grant amount will be given to the educational institution represented by the applicant, with each participant receiving a certificate. Applications independent of their educational institution will not be accepted. Each school / junior college can submit a maximum of two applications irrespective of the categories and sub-categories.

INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
We are inviting innovative and practical ideas that help address the basic issues in
Indian education and make the education system more responsive, interesting and relevant.
You can take up any /all of the issues listed below or anything else that comes to your mind.
Lowering classroom size (some parts of the country have 80 to 120 in one class with a single teacher)
·Lack of amenities – no drinking water, no proper school building, and inadequate teaching-learning infrastructure
·Shortage of qualified, well-trained teachers
·A rigid, information dominant syllabus
·Little or no scope for creativity, innovation and exploration.
-Need for a more practical approach and relating school education to life
·Exam stress
·Assessment is largely information and exam based because of a larger number of students and other factors

Idea and development of any ORIGINAL, ENJOYABLE and INTERESTING educational game for children, which is learning or teaching centered. The educational game can be in reference to:
- Any school subject
- Basic powers of the mind (memory, concentration, creativity, analytical skills)
- Qualities of the heart (courage, trust, integrity, truthfulness, patience and empathy)

YOUNG INNOVATORS (AGES 15 – 17)
INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
An innovative idea for an application program for mobile phones or computers.
An application program is a program designed to perform a specific function directly for the user or, in some cases, for another application program. Examples of applications include word processors, database programs, web browsers, development tools, drawing, painting, image editing programs, and communication programs. We invite you to create an application program with an educational aim.
GROUP PROJECTS
- Idea, design and development for a website, that is created, handled and maintained by the applicants. Applicants can apply through their schools or as an anonymous group. The content of the website has to adhere to the wider topic of INNOVATION IN EDUCATION.
- Idea and development of any ORIGINAL educational game for children, which is learning or teaching centered. The educational game can be in reference to:
- Any school subject
- Basic powers of the mind (memory, concentration, creativity, analytical skills)
- Qualities of the heart (courage, trust, integrity, truthfulness, patience and empathy)
